Arab American Heritage

" Let's Give Peace a Chance: Building Cultural Bridges Toward a Shared Future Through Dialogue, inclusion and Mutual Understanding".
April is designated as the Arab American Heritage month. The above title represents the theme of the dynamic calendar of events developed by Montgomery college in celebration of this occasion.
The calendar of events for April 2012, will highlight the Arab American heritage, and the diverse cultural traditions of the Arab American Communities. It is a great opportunity for open discussions and community dialogues around current issues.
Starting from April 9 - 30, you will have a wide variety of options to appeal to all ages. There are speakers, including historians; artists and art exhibits; award winning films; and music. You will find most of these events at the College technical Center, Room 136.
Among the exciting speakers are our own Dr. Sahar Khamis, an active participant, and a contributor to our Senior Program.
You will also find Dr. Ibrahim Oweiss, MCC special guest and distinguished speaker.
Mr. Leggett, Montgomery County Executive will present this year's proclamation of April as Arab American Heritage Month, on Tuesday April 17th, at 6:00 PM, at Montgomery College Campus (TC 136)
We are forwarding to you the entire calendar of activities. Please invite family and friends. Let's build bridges.

MCC Senior Outreach

In Maryland, Saturday, April 14, 1:30pm, the Muslim Community Center (MCC) Senior Program, as a continuation of our dialogue with members of the interfaith community, will host Seniors of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, and Bible Study Group.
Our seniors from both the church and MCC are taking the lead in bringing our communities together. Through ongoing dialogues, we are learning about our similarities, respecting our differences. Together, as neighbors, we are breaking barriers, building bridges, and celebrating our diversities.
We pray that communities of faith throughout the country reach out to each others in similar dialogues and united celebrations.
