Islamic Leadership Institute of America, in shaa Allah will be offering a unique course on decision making, "Smart Choices", for ages 14-21 of both genders. It's a unique opportunity to learn both, the best practices successful businesses use in decision-making, and more importantly the Islamic perspective on decisions.

In shaa Allah the class is held online, over two sessions, and I will be joined with my good friend, Essam Tawfik on the second session. Check the details out below and sign-up early, we only have limited spaces for this interactive workshop.

The Youth Leadership Program is a workshop consisting of eight 1.5-hour sessions that enable youths to develop their communication and leadership skills through practical experience. The youth will learn skills including:

VolunTeens group works to bring local volunteer opportunities to Howard students

VolunTeens, a nonprofit founded in December by Atholton High School rising senior Michael Zhao, works year-round to connect local students to volunteer opportunities in the county. Using the Zoom online videoconferencing platform, the fair put 10 nonprofits in the same online space at the same time for students to learn about what volunteer opportunities are currently available.

Annual EPC (Essay/Panel Competition) Event

Dear EPC Participants/Patrons,

We are a little over 2 weeks away from the essay submission deadline for EPC. The due date is approaching fast €  ’¶ Yes, it€  ’²s on January 6, 2020. We have only three more weekends left before the due date.

EPC is a one of a kind platform in the DC metro area that provides a unique opportunity for our youths to develop their skills in writing, speech, and multi-media presentation. So, why wait?

Please remind our youths/children/students about the deadline and help them to take advantage of this great opportunity to sharpen communication skills. Please have them submit their essays, poster, and multimedia HERE, by January 6, 2020.

Our overarching theme for EPC-2020 is: The Prophet of Peace and Justice:  In the Footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (S) which includes the following topics for elementary, middle, and high school category. Like previous years, we will also have Islamic Jeopardy for the Elementary and Middle School students €  ’¶ so, don€  ’²t miss out this interesting competition!

Elementary School topic: What does Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (S) teach us about being a peaceful person?

Middle School topic: How do I go about my daily life trying to stay peaceful and being just to those around me?

High School topic: How would Prophet Muhammad (S)€  ’±s teachings bring peace and justice to our lives and communities today?

Centennial High School Student Services will be hosting a county wide FAFSA night on Wednesday, September 27^th at 7:00pm in the CHS auditorium. This evening will help Senior parents navigate the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms that should be completed by every college bound student regardless of economic need, to help ensure eligibility for any kind of scholarship. This presentation will also be available in Spanish.
