Newark, Delaware - June 12th, 2010.
Under the sizzling summer sun and among a crowd of several thousand Muslim and non-Muslim visitors alhamedellah on Saturday June 12th, 2010 ILIA joined the Delaware Muslim community during their SummerFest which was held at the Islamic Society of Delaware (ISD). The event showcased vendors and Islamic organizations that packed the ISD parking lot. ILIA's presence provided the Delaware and Pennsylvania communities with an introduction to Islamic Leadership Institute and its activities.
The ILIA booth was staffed by Mohammad Abouelrous, his mother sister Maryum, Ayman Nassar and his daughter Yomna.
Among those who stopped by were youth from the Delaware local region, community members from Pennsylvania, leadership of ISD, volunteers and the president of the CAIR-PA chapter, and the County Executive Chris Coons. ILIA shared with Chris work it does in ex-inmate transitioning through self-leadership development. ILIA shared information with the youth about its summer internships and volunteer work available to high school and college students.
The ILIA team is grateful to the event's organizers and volunteers and the ISD's board of trustees for inviting the institute over and looks forward to serving the Muslim population in the Delaware / Pennsylvania region.
